Riga Weather is classified as humid continental, its close proximity to the sea tempering its patterns. Despite the city’s northern European location, Riga Weather is moderately warm and humid.

Winters in the capital and largest city of Latvia are usually warm, at least if the city’s location is taken into consideration. During January and February, the coldest months of the year, temperatures hover around −5 °C, though they tend to take a nose dive to a chilling −25 °C when the real cold sets in. Snow is rather common, and can be expected to accumulate between December and March.

As spring sets in Riga Weather puts on its finest ready to welcome visitors. During this time temperatures are still pleasant and the humidity of the summer still quite a few weeks away.

By summer time heat and humidity set in and fine days are almost exclusively intercepted by rain spells. During July temperatures average a cool 17C while the average precipitation stands at 85mm. On the upside, summer is also renewd for its abundant daylight, giving ample opportunities to visitors to take in the many splendors Riga has to offer.

Riga Weather takes a turn for the worst as autumn rolls in. Because of its proximity to the sea, rain and fog are almost permanent fixtures, while temperatures drop to an average of 10C.
